I have a test tomorrow! It’s the first time I’m being tested on so many “different” areas of study: biochemistry, anatomy, micro-anatomy (cell bio) and histology, physiology, even behavioral sciences, oh, and I think my radiographic anatomy? haha who knows!

My mind is being shifted to think about the world in so many different levels. Genetics is particularly fascinating to me because I always appreciate the things unseen and for one thing, as strapping as we are, our DNA is constantly going hay-wire! Our purines (Adenine and Guanine) are depurinated as much as 5000 times a day. Sigh! But we have these beautiful repair mechanisms to rebuild and put things back in the right place.

Another thing I learned was that we are in essence sicker than our parents. Every child is born with an estimated 100 to 200 new mutations. As noted by my really awesome professor: “About 1 in 50 infants is born with a diagnosable genetic condition that can be attributed to a single major mutation.”

Lastly, I want to share that my Sunday was amazing. Our speaker today spoke so much truth that I felt my heart racing. He goes by the name Dr. Nine, a forensic pathologist who was basically on the fast-track of medicine only to realize he was living for himself and not for God… and God had other plans for him. Today he spoke about life, and the life that is abundant in Jesus Christ in contrast to the life of this world. Apparently, the game of life which you can play online now has these extra pieces to land on where you can trade in your accomplishments at the end for money. These include: giving to African orphans, adopting a pet, becoming a grandmother/father, etc. He then asked the congregation, “Why are you here?” Although I still struggle with the passions and pride of possessions of this world, I’m seeing how valueless they are. I hope I can make a conscious decision every day to choose life in Christ to the point where it becomes an unconscious decision.

Well, goodnight! And please pray for me! My first exam is tomorrow at 9:45am!
