potential landlord for next semester
Hello Grace,
It was really nice meeting you, too and to know that you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God for His grace that He bestowed upon us so that we can become children of God. GRACE : God’s Riches At Christ Expense! What marvelous grace! God granting to us favour that we did not deserve. Grace, your name reminds you daily of God’s love. Please as we go out...
traffic *jam party
friend: Hey, I heard there's a traffic jam party that everyone's going to tonight.
me: oh really? I didn't hear about that. what is that?
friend: ohh you know you wear green if you're single and ready to mingle, you wear yellow if you're in between and you wear red if you're taken.
me: ooooh well I don't even own a green shirt. and I don't want to meet a boy
friend: really why not? are you a lesbian?
me: what no! HAHA that's funny. I'm going to write that in my blog.
I just love when I walk out of a classroom (my usual study spot) to buy myself a snack from the vending machine and I eat it all even before I step back inside… FAIL!

update
It has been a while! I Even my dad mentioned that I haven’t been blogging as often. Ha-ha! Well, I’m studying alright! Today I had to demo the brachial plexus, run to a real live patient-interview session on camera, catch up with 4 lectures just from today, (really 5) and send in my assignment. But I did manage to catch a rainbow, and almost perfect my pasta recipe of tomatoes bathed...

I need your prayers
I don’t know if I passed my first exam. And I feel so heavy because the workload is already more than I can handle for today. Please pray for me!
I have a test tomorrow! It’s the first time I’m being tested on so many “different” areas of study: biochemistry, anatomy, micro-anatomy (cell bio) and histology, physiology, even behavioral sciences, oh, and I think my radiographic anatomy? haha who knows!
My mind is being shifted to think about the world in so many different levels. Genetics is particularly fascinating...

Jesus freak?
I just had one of the most awkward encounters in my life today. A new friend asked me to have dinner with him today. I declined a few times before but I decided I should just go ahead with it this time. I knew that his intentions in getting to know me were different from mine and I’ve been praying that I would not be distracted by my studies, esp. concerning the opposite gender.
Anyhows,...
how I'm doing spiritually
I feel like a little kid who ate too much candy. And now I’m feeling the aftermath. The first week of being in Dominica surely felt like a vacation. But now, the realization of being in a private and unknown place, intensifies my longings, and reveals all my hidden sins, sins that I did not struggle with as much before. For one, my vanity and self-absorption. It only grows worse with endless...
I am studying
First day of classes was quite enjoyable for me! I was familiar with the content so it wasn’t too difficult, but it’s already 8:44pm and I’m still reviewing the lectures. I ate a 6 inch subway sandwich and pasta, so I did fall asleep for about 30 minutes! And anything and everything you want to get done in Dominca, such as adding minutes to your phone, going to the bank, waiting...
last night of fun
My classes start tomorrow. I reviewed as much as I could. Okay not as much, but I don’t want to stress myself out. I am choosing not to print out my notes because I hate being around people that stress out about printing their notes, and I think it will be a waste of time - to print and to take notes on. I think grad school prepared me to understand how I best study and the way I do that is...
Sunday
Sunday worship on the deck. It’s usually indoors. We sang songs like “How Great Thou Art” and “I am a friend of God”.
The sermon was on loving God and loving others. The speaker made everyone stand for the entire 10 min sermon and made us do motions to follow along. I thought it was the introduction only to find out it was the entire sermon. haha.
then went...
the market (Saturday)
got up at 6am to go to the Portsmouth market. Ideally, one should arrive by 6:30am, but I got there an hr later. It was only a 10 min bus ride from my place.
came home with fresh tomatoes, lemons, basil, parsley, cucumbers
bought 4 grapefruits for 1 EC. That’s amazing. That’s like 0.40 cents for one. Wait, did I buy it for 2 EC? Goodness grapefruits.
went for a morning...

friday
Today was the first day I ate really well. I ate both authentic mediterranean and chinese food.
ginger beer? Don’t worry parents! It’s just soda.
I had a falafel sandwich and it was delicious. 14 EC dollars = $5.24 US
yes, you are looking at chicken and rice. (It’s what my friend ate)
Then I headed to the deck to read my slides for Monday.

Thank you Angie Kim for sharing this with me.

I had lunch at the shacks today again, a chicken pita wrap. It was alright. The chicken looked like the fun part of the chicken you would want to eat. haha. That was sarcasm.
Our class had an orientation of local foods given by a nutritionist at the school who was born and raised here. She was not hesitant to tell us how certain foods can supposedly make boys feel sexy. She was quite hilarious....
another day
3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
(Psalm 63:3-4)
His love is better than life. I was reflecting on this yesterday and realized how true it is even as I’m here on this beautiful island. The deep longing in my heart has been impressed so deeply by His love that nothing...
day 4
I’m so out of shape! Oh LoRDAy! Dios MioS! Lots of walking today.
So this is what people call “the shacks”, where you can get your fresh fruit juice and textbooks people sell, as well as chicken wraps and chicken salads. After waiting for about 10 min in the hot sun on this line, the food ran out!
So I went to the “cafe” next door and look there’s...
day 3
Today was a fun day! There is a grocery store named IGA (I’ll find out what it stands for) just about 5 minutes from my apt. I went there twice today. I still don’t have a towel so I’ve been sacrificing my shirt, but I made a few friends today and one of them is giving me one of hers. How nice!
It’s too bad I just really like plain H2O. I’m resorting to drink...

Jesus came to party
The bible is never boring. Even genealogies can be exciting! Today is Christmas, although it’s not really Jesus’ actual birthday, it’s still a day that we have to remember his coming to the world.
Upon closer observation of Matthew 1 (really, my ESV study notes), the genealogy leading to Jesus Christ includes 5 women - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary, making it quite...
island med student
I’ve been reading entries from a blog written by a former med student from Ross University. She just may be one of the most awesome people I never met. Reading her entries also grounds my decision with excitement instead of the settling fear I’ve been experiencing lately. She answered just about every question that came to my mind, from choosing between Ross U or St. George’s,...

So today I went to the Doc and got my blood work, urine analysis, ppd (skin test for TB), my 2nd HPV vaccination, found out I lost 10 lbs since I last checked and got an order for a chest x-ray. I also had a heart to heart with both the doctor and Mona, the assistant. And I don’t have to go to work today! So now I’m sitting at home looking at literally hundreds of apartments online....
