BAH!
I’ve learned so much over the past 4 weeks that it has blown my mind away.  For one, I learned how to appreciate the intricacies packed inside the brain.  (Ross property!) At the end of the neuro module, we learned about memory and our professor shared about a patient named HM. He’s the good looking fellow in the middle (below) who was suffering from seizures and a neurosurgeon (on...

you know I am not playing around when I drop my notes in the bathroom and I still use them even though I’m pretty sure my stack of papers absorbed someone’s urine.

found a slug
came back from the market and did my usual routine of washing all my greens. As I moved on to my bed of lettuce I felt this slippery mucus rubbing against my finger and I freaked out, and yes it was a slug.  and well I thought, a little vinegar should do it and I can continue eating my lettuce but gosh I can’t get the feeling out of me.  so of course I google it and found this rather...

david and goliath
today I learned that it’s quite possible that Goliath had suffered from bitemporal hemianopia, since he was huge and had lots of growth hormone coming from his pituitary gland, this also explains how a tumor in that region must have been compressing his optic chiasm which kept him from seeing things peripherally in his temporal vision. So interesting!

BOILING LAKE
This was quite possibly the most tortuous and simultaneously glorious place I’ve ever seen.  Say hello to the boiling lake in Dominica, the world’s second largest hot spring! HI a part of me died going up these treacherous rocks fresh spring water. We had two tour guides between me and my friend HHAAHA. This guy is not human. You see those flip flops he’s wearing? He...

a father's love
Parents: So grace, what are you going to do over the weekend?
Me: Oh well tomorrow I'm going to study and Saturday I'm going to go to a place called Emerald Pool or a Sulfur Spa.
Mom: Ooh that's nice
Dad: Oh be careful! Don't go into the water
Me: Why not?
Dad: There might be alligators
Mom and Me: What?!

going back to school T-1 day
I have ONE more full DAY before I go back and start my second semester. I’ve started packing since Sunday because I really want to bring back as much as I can with me. I literally got a suitcase filled with food and just food. I feel like a sponge trying to soak up all the goodness to bring with me because I know I can’t find Puffins cereal, almond butter, and quality tea or coffee,...

home
Home has always been my comfort zone. It’s always been my place of solitude, refuge and peace. I’ve been blessed with a 17+ year old dog, and parents who always encourage me. And as wonderful as the food is, and the hot showers, and seeing my old friends, and all the exciting things I have planned for this short time home, I have this heavy burden inside of me. I have never felt this...

happy birthday
Happy Birthday to a dear friend.  Thank you for being a woman whose incredible strength and passion has blessed all around you. I pray that the quiet beauty that shines within you will touch the multitudes. Don’t be afraid of going where no-one else dares to go.  Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your...

it's crunch time!
Please pray for me friends and family! Please pray that I’ll learn how to manage this precious time that God gave for me to study.  I have 3 practical exams this week one exam next week and a final (really 3 finals in 1) the next.  And the day after that, I’ll be getting on the plane back to the USA! YAY! USA!  For now, I’ll be sleeping. Good night!

My pastor from my club gave an introductory lecture on congenital heart defects and valvular pathologies. So of course I wore my Ross Christian Fellowship t-shirt to class HAHA! Seldom do you meet someone who is a pastor, professor and a physician! Also I decided to stay in the same apt for next semester. I’ve looked around and I can’t seem to find a better view (other than the beach)...

me: ooooh well I don't even own a green shirt. and I don't want to meet a boy
friend: really why not? are you a lesbian?
me: what no! HAHA that's funny. I'm going to write that in my blog.
